Applesauce Cake

Ingredients

1/2 cup Roberts Butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 Roberts Egg
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 1/2 cups applesauce
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
2 tablespoons hot water
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

Cream butter and sugar together well; blend in egg. Sift flour, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg together; gradually add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce. Dissolve baking soda in hot water; add to batter, blending well. Fold in raisins and chopped walnuts. Pour batter into a buttered and floured 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350รป for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center tests clean; cool. Frost as desired.

Yield: 1-9 x 13 inch loaf cake

Notes:

To flour a buttered baking pan, place 2-3 tablespoons of flour in it and shake until all surfaces have a film of flour. To discard excess, invert pan over sink and tap bottom gently.
