Basic Hamburgers

Ingredients

2 pounds lean ground beef
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1 teaspoon salt

Optional Ingredients

1/4 cup sauteed onion
1 cup grated cheese
1/4 cup crumbled cooked bacon
1 teaspoon dry onion soup mix

Preparation

Mix together 2 pounds lean ground beef, 1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce and 1 teaspoon salt. (For variety, add 1/4 cup sauteed onion, 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup crumbled cooked bacon or 1 teaspoon dry onion soup mix.) Shape mixture into 8 patties. Broil, pan-broil, grill or saute to desired degree of doneness.

Yield: 6 to 8 servings

Notes:

A handy way to freeze Basic Hamburgers is to place waxed paper between each portion and freeze until needed. Use 4 patties for each pound of seasoned ground beef in casseroles.
