Carousel Flan Crust

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shredded American cheese
1/2 cup shortening
4-5 tablespoons cold water

Preparation

Sift together flour and salt; stir in shredded cheese. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles fine meal. Sprinkle cold water over mixture, stirring with a fork until dough forms a ball. Place a 16 inch square piece of aluminum foil on large ungreased baking sheet; sprinkle with additional flour. Place dough on aluminum foil; roll into a 13 inch circle. Fold up sides of foil and crust to make a 3 1/2 inch standing rim; flute rim. Bake at 450˚ for 10 to 12 minutes, or until crust is lightly browned.
