Ingredients

5 cups sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 1/2 cups water
2 Roberts Egg Whites
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups chopped nuts or chopped candied cherries

Preparation

In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and water; bring to a boil and cook to hard ball stage (252°). Allow mixture to stand 5 minutes. Beat egg whites and salt together until stiff, but not dry. Gradually pour the hot syrup over beaten egg whites and continue beating until mixture becomes dull in finish. Add vanilla extract and chopped nuts or cherries. Drop teaspoonfuls of mixture onto waxed paper. Store in a tightly covered container.

Yield: 2 pounds
