Fantastic Fudge

Ingredients

4 1/2 cups sugar
1 can (14 ounce) sweetened condensed milk
3 large (4 ounces each) chocolate candy bars, broken
2 cups chocolate chips
2 cups marshmallow creme
1 cup chopped nuts
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

Combine sugar and condensed milk; bring to a boil and boil 5 minutes. In a large saucepan, mix together chocolate candy bars, chocolate chips and marshmallow creme. Pour half of the hot syrup mixture over the chocolate mixture and beat well. Add the remaining syrup and beat until melted and well-mixed; add chopped nuts and vanilla extract. Pour mixture into a well-buttered 11 x 7 x 2 inch baking pan. Cool; cut into squares.

Yield: 4 pounds

Notes:

Candy syrup is cooked to soft ball stage if syrup forms a soft ball when dropped into very cold water, and flattens on removal from water.
