Golden Cake Layer

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups cake flour, sifted
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup Roberts Milk
1/3 cup shortening
1 Roberts Egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl; blend at low speed of electric mixer for 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes at high speed. Pour batter into a buttered and floured 8 x 8 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 350� for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center tests clean. Cool; frost if desired, or serve with a fruit sauce.

Yield: 1-8 inch cake layer
