Ingredients
1 cup flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
2 tablespoons Roberts Butter
1 tablespoon cold water
Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl; beat at low speed of mixer until mixture resembles coarse meal. Using floured fingers, press the crumb mixture evenly and firmly into a 9 or 10 inch pie pan. If desired, flute the edge. Bake crust at 425˚ for 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden brown; or fill and bake as directed in recipe. Cool before filling.
Yield: 1-9 or 10 inch crust
Notes:
Additional ingredients may be added to the Mix & Press Pastry to complement the flavor of filling used: 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder; 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg; 1 tablespoon grated orange rind; 1/3 cup shredded coconut; or 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese. (Decrease oven temperature to 400˚ for orange and coconut crusts.)
