Sour Cream Cookies

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup Roberts Butter (softened by letting sit at room temperature)
1 cup Roberts Sour Cream
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1 tablespoons water
3 ¾ - 4 cups flour

Preparation

Stir together sugar and butter; once mixed, add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Dissolve soda in one tablespoon boiling water, add to cream, and stir until it foams in fine bubbles. Pour over eggs, butter, sugar and vanilla. Do not incorporate until 2 cups flour have been added; then stir thoroughly. Add more flour (up to 4 cups total) as needed to handle easily. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with colored sugars or colored nonpareil beads. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until tops are firm to touch. I actually got this recipe from a college roommate about 30 years ago. I have added a few of my own tweaks that make it work the best for me.
