Sweet-Sour Short Ribs

Ingredients

2 pounds beef short ribs
2 tablespoons Roberts Butter
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup pineapple syrup
1/3 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 green pepper, cut in strips
1/2 medium onion, sliced
1 can (20 ounce) pineapple chunks, drained

Preparation

Brown ribs in butter; add water. Cover and cook slowly for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, adding more water, if necessary; drain. In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, pineapple syrup, vinegar and soy sauce; cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Pour sauce over hot ribs and allow to stand 10 minutes. Add green pepper, onion and pineapple; cook 5 minutes. Serve over chow mein noodles or with fried rice.

Yield: 6 to 8 servings
